Communication access
As an accredited Communication Access site, Moyne’s customer‑facing teams can communicate well with everyone, including people who use alternative ways to communicate (for example, communication boards, pictures, or devices). The accreditation is delivered by Scope Australia and allows us to display the Communication Access Symbol, signalling that staff are trained, welcoming and supported with practical tools to make communication work for all customers.
Across Australia, 1 in 7 people will experience a communication difficulty at some point in their lives, so improving communication isn’t niche—it’s essential public service. This approach aligns with Victorian government expectations that information and services be accessible to every Victorian, including via plain language and Easy Read formats.
Scope’s program focuses on staff capability, communication tools, and environment. In practice, this means: tailored training (delivered with people who have lived experience), communication aids at counters and phones, clear/Plain English or Easy Read materials, and a site assessment to check that real‑world interactions are successful. When a site meets the standard, Scope awards the Communication Access Symbol and lists the service in a public directory of communication‑accessible places.
