Community vison - easy read

What is this guide about?

This guide explains the community vision for Moyne Shire for the year 2040. It shares what people in Moyne want their community to be like in the future.

What is a community vision?

A community vision is a plan made by local people. It says:

  • What we want our community to look like
  • What is important to us
  • What we want to change or improve

Who helped make the vision?

  • 320 people from Moyne shared ideas
  • A community panel of 40 people helped write the vision
  • People from all over Moyne joined in

Why is this Vision important?

The vision helps:

  • Moyne Shire Council make good decisions
  • Plan for the future
  • Make sure everyone works together

The vision has 4 big parts (called pillars):

  1. Place

    We want:

    • Affordable housing for everyone
    • Safe and connected towns
    • Fun outdoor spaces and playgrounds
    • Events, arts and culture
    • Jobs close to home
  2. Environment

    We want:

    • Clean energy and less pollution
    • Smart farming that cares for the land
    • Good recycling and waste systems
    • To protect nature and animals
    • To learn from Traditional Owners
  3. People

    We want:

    • To stay connected with each other
    • Good transport for all ages
    • Health services close to home
    • Fast internet and digital access
    • Support for young people
    • Mental health care
  4. Economy

    We want:

    • Smart farming and new ideas
    • Strong local businesses
    • Tourism that respects nature
    • Education and jobs for everyone
    • Help for part-time and seasonal workers

What happens next?

  • A reference group will meet twice a year
  • They will check how the vision is going
  • Council will share updates every year
