Committees

The Local Government Act 2020 requires councils to
consider the manner in which all Council Committees are
established and administered.
Under the Act (2020) a limited number of committee
types are defined:
• Delegated Committee (section 63 of the Act)
• Community Asset Committee (section 65 of the Act)
• Audit and Risk Committee (section 53 of the Act)
• Advisory Committees.

Councillors' Code of Conduct

This code of conduct specifies the agreed standard of councillor behaviour required for the ethical and professional performance of duties.

Council delegations

Councillors can make a formal decision at a council meeting to delegate certain decision-making powers to council staff or special committees of council. Because delegates are making decisions ‘as the council’, they are subject to strict controls and accountability.

​Personal interest information

Section 135 of the Local Government Act 2020 states that the Chief Executive Officer must prepare a summary of personal interest information disclosed in the last personal interests return lodged with the Chief Executive Officer.

Inviting the Mayor or a councillor to an event

The Mayor and council welcome invitations. They value the contribution events make to our community and welcome the opportunity to be involved.
