Moyne Shire Supports the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower program

Moyne Shire is proud to support the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower initiative, a program designed to raise awareness and understanding of people living with non-visible disabilities. Hidden disabilities can include conditions such as autism, chronic pain, mental health challenges, and sensory processing disorders. These conditions may not be immediately apparent, but they can significantly impact daily life. By embracing the sunflower symbol, Moyne is helping create a more inclusive and supportive community.

To make this initiative accessible, sunflower lanyards are now available at Moyne’s, Mortlake, and Port Fairy offices, as well as at our library branches. Wearing a sunflower lanyard is a simple way for individuals to discreetly indicate that they may need extra time, patience, or assistance. Staff at these locations have been trained to recognize the symbol and offer appropriate support when needed.

This program reflects Moyne’s commitment to inclusion and accessibility for all residents and visitors. By participating in the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower initiative, we aim to foster understanding, reduce barriers, and ensure everyone feels welcome in our spaces.
