Moyne Shire Councillors met with Victorian Leader of the Opposition, Jess Wilson, during her visit to south west Victoria on Sunday 15 March 2026.

Mayor Jordan Lockett, Deputy Mayor Myra Murrihy, Cr Jim Doukas, and CEO Mark Eversteyn met with Ms Wilson and Member for South West Coast, Roma Britnell to discuss a range of local issues affecting the Moyne community.

Mayor, Cr Jordan Lockett said the meeting was a great opportunity to talk about key topics on behalf of the community.

“We highlighted the importance of maintaining and upgrading our region’s road network. Our roads are absolutely critical to support agriculture, freight, and road safety for everyone who uses them,” said Cr Lockett.

“We know that roads are the number one issue for our residents, farmers and businesses, and we will strongly advocate for significantly more funding in the lead up to the Victorian parliament November 2026 state election,’ he said.

“During our discussion we also raised the condition and future needs of public swimming pool infrastructure funding support across the shire.”

“The high level of feedback we received to the survey on our aquatic facilities strategy showed this is a concern for all pool users in Moyne.”

Council is currently developing a focused advocacy program ahead of the election. These priorities will be released in the coming months as the campaign progresses.
