Public art

Public art brings creativity into everyday places, making art a visible and valued part of community life. Whether temporary or permanent, it invites us to pause, discover something unexpected and connect more deeply with the places and communities around us.

BIG ART. SMALL TOWNS.

Explore Creative Moyne's temporary public art program BIG ART. SMALL TOWNS. Through a rotating series of exhibitions, local and regional artists share their work in public spaces across Moyne, bringing creativity into everyday places and creating opportunities to discover art in our towns.

Public art opportunities

Creative Moyne's next expression of interest for BIG ART. SMALL TOWNS. will open on 5 October 2026.

One expression of interest process will select artists for the 2027 exhibition program, with successful artworks programmed across three exhibition periods throughout the year.

This is not a traditional public art commission. Artists can propose an existing artwork or create something new for the opportunity.

The opportunity

  • Exhibit your work in a prominent public location
  • Receive a $1,500 artist fee
  • Open to emerging and established artists
  • Existing or new artworks can be proposed
  • No set theme - artists have creative freedom, but should consider how their work connects with or responds to the location and surrounding area
  • Be part of a rotating public art program brining creativity into everyday spaces across Moyne

2027 exhibition periods

Successful artists will be programmed into one of the three exhibition periods:

  • Exhibition 1: 1 February - 30 April 2027
  • Exhibition 2: 30 April - 30 July 2027
  • Exhibition 3: 30 July - 1 November

A fourth exhibition period, from 1 November 2027 to 31 January 2028, will be dedicated to young artists aged 12–25 and will have a separate expression of interest process.
