Headshot of Karen Foster

First elected in 2020, Cr Karen Foster has served as Mayor and Deputy Mayor during her time on Council.

Karen is a former journalist who operates a business and leadership development consultancy from Port Fairy. She is an experienced board director, chair and independent chair and a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. A professional facilitator and mentor, Karen also has a personal interest in supporting other women in business and leadership.

Karen’s passion for Moyne Shire is centred on community, inclusion, and the unique lifestyle the region offers. Having lived in Port Fairy for more than three decades, she values both the area's natural beauty and the strong sense of connection that exists within its towns.

Karen was motivated to run for Council after recognising the lack of female representation in Local Government and wanting to help create a more diverse and representative Council.

She hopes Moyne can continue to build on its strong community spirit while fostering greater inclusion and belonging.

Karen is married with two adult children. She loves walking her dogs on Moyne Shire’s beautiful beaches, gardening, travel and catching up with friends and family for good food and robust conversation.
