Moyne calls for artists for 2027 public art program
Published on 05 October 2026
Moyne Shire Council is calling on artists across South West Victoria to be part of its BIG ART. SMALL TOWNS. public art program, with Expressions of Interest opening on 5 October 2026.
Following the inaugural exhibition, Council is introducing a single annual application process to select artworks for three exhibition periods between February and November 2027.
The program transforms everyday spaces into outdoor exhibition sites at Koroit Theatre and Mortlake Community Hub, showcasing local and regional artists through large-scale installations.
Successful artists will receive a $1,500 artist fee per site, with their work professionally reproduced and displayed for approximately three months.
Moyne Shire Mayor Cr Jordan Lockett said the program created ongoing opportunities for regional artists while bringing creativity into local communities.
"BIG ART. SMALL TOWNS. makes creativity visible in our communities and gives artists opportunities to showcase their work in places where people live, work and visit," Cr Lockett said.
"Building on our first exhibition, we're excited to see more regional artists featured across Koroit and Mortlake.
"Having one application process for the year also helps artists plan ahead while delivering a changing program of artworks for residents and visitors to enjoy."
The current inaugural exhibition concludes in November 2026, making way for a youth-specific exhibition as part of Youth Fest celebrations.
Emerging and established artists can submit existing works or propose new pieces, with no set theme. Council will manage artwork production, installation and promotion.
This is the only general Expression of Interest round for the 2027 program, with a separate youth application process later in the year.
Applications close Friday 13 November 2026.
