Nominations open for inspiring women

Nominations are now open for the sixth annual Inspiring Women of Moyne awards, celebrating women who make meaningful contributions to our community.
Held in the lead-up International Women’s Day, the awards shine a light on women whose everyday actions at work, in study, at home or community involvement, make our community what it is today.
Mayor Jordan Lockett encouraged the community to take the time and nominate women from all walks of life that contribute to our shire in passionate and meaningful ways.
“This is my first year on the judging panel and my first as Mayor and I’m really looking forward to learning more about the incredible women who inspire our community every single day,” Cr Lockett said.
“They don’t need to be well-known or have a long list of achievements. What matters is that they inspire you in some way whether that be through kindness, leadership, care, resilience or simply showing up for others,” he said.
Cr Lockett said the awards are an important chance to celebrate local women while continuing the broader conversation about equality.
“It’s about recognising the contributions women make across every part of our community and saying thank you,” he said.
Nominations are open until Wednesday 16 February 2026 for women over the age of 18 who are residents of Moyne Shire.
Cr Lockett said the nomination process is simple and encouraged nominators to share as much detail as they can to help judges understand why their nominee is inspiring.
Nominate online at www.moyne.vic.gov.au/inspiringwomen or at Council’s customer service centres in Mortlake and Port Fairy.
