Regional Arts Victoria and Moyne Shire Council are bringing creatives, changemakers and community collaborators together at The Koroit Stables on March 27 for LOOP Creative Social, an evening of connection, conversation and real-world insights into partnerships and collaboration.

Designed for southwest Victoria’s creatives, businesses and community collaborators, this informal gathering offers a chance to network, share ideas and strengthen the region’s creative sector.

In a series of quick-fire talks, industry experts and local creatives will share ‘5 Things I’ve Learnt About Collaboration’, offering real-world stories and practical insights into working across sectors.

Wisdom-sharers include Liz Price, CEO of Great Ocean Road Regional Tourism, Regional Arts Victoria’s Stacie Bobele and local artists Caroline Healey and Emma Stenhouse. Attendees will gain practical tips on building successful partnerships, reaching new audiences and working collectively to deliver creative projects and initiatives.

Adding to the atmosphere will be a Welcome to Country and live music from Gunditjmara musician Andy Alberts, alongside three emerging young musicians collaborating on new work, and live graphic recording by Shelley Knoll-Miller. Guests will also enjoy catering by Izzy’s, set within Koroit’s quirky restored 1890s stables.

The impact of the Creative Social initiative is already being seen across the region. At the first event, the $2,000 seed funding and mentoring package was awarded to Kelp Magazine, a creative collaboration celebrating coastal culture and storytelling in the southwest.

Kelp Magazine founder Katrina Carey said the support helped bring the idea to life.

"The mentoring sessions helped validate and expand my idea, which gave me the confidence so many creatives lack. The seed funding supported me to activate markets and grow visibility. I was also connected to a host of useful contacts which led to further advice and collaboration, so it’s been an incredibly valuable opportunity."

A new support package including $1,000 seed funding and one-on-one mentoring with industry experts will again be up for grabs, helping a local collaborative idea grow into an impactful creative project.

Moyne Shire Council Mayor Jordan Lockett said the event reflects Council’s commitment to strengthening the creative sector across the southwest.

"When developing Moyne Shire’s Arts and Culture Strategy, our community told us they wanted more opportunities to connect, share ideas and build networks. Creative Social responds directly to that feedback, bringing people together to support collaboration and strengthen our region’s creative sector."

Regional Arts Victoria’s Southwest Regional Manager Stacey Barnes said the event was designed to bring together people from all corners of the region’s creative community.

“From musicians and makers to venues, volunteers, businesses and curious locals, anyone who believes in collaboration has something to gain at this event”.

Backed by the Fletcher Jones Family Foundations, the event celebrates creative talent and helps turn great local ideas into action.

This event is delivered as part of Moyne Shire’s Arts and Culture Strategy and the South West Creative Industries Strategy, a regional initiative supporting the creative sector across Corangamite, Glenelg, Moyne, Southern Grampians and Warrnambool.
