In good times and in bad: adaptive skills for your farming future
Livestock and grain farmers are invited to participate in a 2-day workshop to help future proof your farm. Develop practical strategies to manage climate risk, build resilience and shape a stronger, more adaptable business.
Presenter: Dr Kate Burke
Kate is an independent farm consultant with extensive experience in crop agronomy and mixed farming. Kate helps participants work out what's most important to them, better understand the elements of their business, identify opportunities for growth and mitigate risk. Using an evidence-based approach, Kate will guide you in developing a plan to contribute to your farm's success. Topics covered include:
- Key profit drivers and high-level benchmarks
- Income v cost of production
- Understanding your personal appetite for risk and your production potential to assess variation in profit
- Managing climate variability and farm financial performance
- Scenario planning for the 2025 and 2026 seasons and beyond.
Kate will guide participants to focus on what they can do to prepare for the risk of further dry conditions. Participants are eligible to review their business plans 1-on-1 with Kate, after the course.
Past participants said:
- "We appreciated the time away to focus on the bigger picture with our business partners."
- "All this stuff is connected; most courses just deal with one topic in isolation. This workshop is unique".
This activity is free and includes morning tea and lunch.
Numbers are limited.
Registration is essential.
