What is a youth-led grant?

A youth-led grant  is funding specifically available for projects that are created and led by young people, for the benefit of other young people in their community. These grants are designed to support and innovative, youth-driven ideas that directly improve outcomes for locals.

  • You are aged 16–25 years
  • You are applying as an individual or part of a group
  • You live, work, study or recreate in the Moyne Shire
  • Your project will benefit the local community
  • If you're applying as an individual (not through a school or organisation), you must have the support of an incorporated not-for-profit or educational organisation to act as a sponsor or mentor for the grant.
  • Events must be alcohol, smoke, and drug free and held or benefit the Moyne Shire area.

If all the above apply to you, you are eligible to apply

What do I need to apply?

  • Discuss your project with the NextGen Development Officer Lee Malady lee.malady@moyne.vic.gov.au
  • You’ll need an incorporated not-for-profit or educational organisation to support your project (this is called a sponsor). This could be a school, youth group, sporting club, or community organisation. You’ll submit your application together with this sponsor.
  • Be located within the Moyne Shire municipal boundary or if an external group, clearly demonstrate predominant benefit to Moyne communities and residents.
  • Explain why you need Council funding to make your project happen. What will the money help you do that you couldn’t do otherwise?
  • You will be required to supply quotes for services, products and other project costs.
  • Current public liability iInsurance certificate will be required to be supplied by your sponsor organisation.
  • You’ll need to sign a short agreement with Council. After your project is done, you’ll need to report back (acquit) how you used the money by June 30 2026
  • Submit any supporting documentation to assist with your application such as letters of support, project plan, site plan, design plans and any other relevant documentation about your project.
  • Your sponsor organisation will need an ABN, or If they don’t have one, they’ll need to fill out a new statement by a supplier form to include with your application.

Just because your application meets the key criteria doesn’t guarantee funding. Council will review all applications and award grants based on the assessment criteria.
