FoGI works as a collective volunteer group to protect and enhance the natural ecosystems of Griffiths Island. We work in partnership with Moyne Shire Council as land managers. We conduct school and small group tours in history, environment, shearwaters, marine biology and coastal vegetation.
Between 15th April to 10th May we ask Port Fairy residents to SWITCH OFF their external residential lights to assist the fledgling shearwaters on their maiden flight north. In 2024 we won a Victorian award which recognised the importance of community connectedness and education. The unique hand crafted glass award can be seen at the Port Fairy Visitor Information Centre.
