Tender process now open for Port Fairy pool and fitness centre
Published on 13 August 2025
A tender process opens today for management and operation of the Port Fairy community pool and fitness centre for up to the next 9 years.
The current lease to Belfast Aquatics (BA) ends on 30 November 2025. BA is a community organisation that has operated the pool and fitness centre in Port Fairy since it opened in 2007.
Mayor, Cr Karen Foster said the BA committee of management has much to be proud of in running the facility for and on behalf of the community, and Council acknowledges its many outstanding volunteer contributions.
“Council will keep the community informed about what’s happening with the Port Fairy facility, we know there is a lot of interest in this,” Cr Foster said.
“In 2024-25, Moyne Shire Council provided $290,000 in financial support to BA. Consequently, we have an obligation to all Moyne Shire ratepayers to ensure responsible use of Council funds into the future.
“We are undertaking a fair and transparent process to ensure the successful operator has a sustainable and robust business model in place that can provide confidence to both the Council and the Moyne community.
“Our hope is to ensure the ongoing operation of the centre through this tender process.”
“The decision on future management of the centre will be made by Councillors at an Ordinary Council Meeting based on the outcome of the tender process.”
“Council looks forward to receiving tender submissions by midday 9 September, 2025.”
