Recognition and training for volunteers

Published on 14 May 2024

In collaboration with the Southwest Community Foundation, Moyne Shire will host three events during National Volunteer Week to recognise the countless volunteers and community groups who help our communities thrive.

The events will also provide an opportunity for networking and mutual learning, and will include a workshop on applying for and receiving grants and funding, and tips and tricks for acquiring and keeping volunteers.

Mayor, Cr Ian Smith said he was constantly reminded of the generous nature displayed by Moyne residents.

“We all benefit when the volunteers in our communities contribute their time, enthusiasm and knowledge,” said Cr Smith.

“As residents we can all be grateful for our tireless community groups, sporting clubs, environment groups, volunteer emergency services and many more” he said.

“As a Council we are committed to supporting volunteer-based groups through grants such as our Community Assistance Fund, and Festival and Event Fund.”

All are welcome to these free community events, which will include a light afternoon or morning tea.
