Council community carbon offset program (C3OP)
Applications for the 2024/25 program are now closed
Moyne Shire Council has committed funding for and successfully delivered the Council Community Carbon Offset Program (C3OP) since 2009.
This program assists in the non-verified partial offsetting of council’s greenhouse gas emissions through tree planting within the municipality.
The C3OP encourages the community to plant 3,781 trees each year to fully compensate for an estimated 756-tonnes of carbon dioxide (or greenhouse gas equivalent) emissions from council’s light fleet vehicles.
Each year following applications, council officers will assess and recommend applicants to council, with council to make a formal decision at its ordinary council meeting. Successful applicants will be sent written notification of this decision following a determined outcome.
