Dog and cat owners in Moyne Shire are reminded to register their pets for the coming 12 months.

All dogs and cats from 12 weeks of age need to be registered and permanently implanted with a microchip. Desexing is also highly recommended and attracts a discounted registration fee.

Mayor, Cr Ian Smith said registering your dog or cat greatly improves their chances of being returned to you if they become lost.

“The fee helps cover the costs of looking after lost animals and finding their owner,” said Cr Smith.

“Our pets are part of our families, and we want to make sure a lost pet can be returned home as soon as possible,” he said.

“Please do let us know if you have changed address or contact details, if you have rehomed or adopted a new pet, or if your pet has passed away.”

Pet registration payments are due by 10 April, 2024.

Payments can be made online or in person at Council’s customer service centres located in Mortlake and Port Fairy.

Residents with any queries about animal registration can contact Council on 1300 656 564 or email moyne@moyne.vic.gov.au
