Myra Murrihy

Deputy Mayor

Headshot of Myra Murrihy

First elected to Council in 2024, Cr Myra Murrihy was motivated to run after feeling that her perspective was not represented around the Council table. As a younger resident and parent of young children, she wanted to bring a fresh voice to Local Government and ensure the experiences of young families were reflected in Council decision-making

Myra lives in Port Fairy with her husband and two children and is passionate about building strong, connected communities.

She believes communities need to be nurtured and maintained, and that giving back through volunteering and community involvement is essential to their success.

Originally from Karumba, a small and remote town in far north Queensland, Myra understands first hand the vital role that public services play in supporting community wellbeing, resilience and quality of life. This experience has shaped her commitment to ensuring residents across Moyne have access to the services and opportunities they need to thrive.

She is committed to helping create an inclusive and welcoming community where everyone can prosper, from the smallest rural communities to the region’s larger townships, with a strong focus on improving access to services and supporting community wellbeing.

Before being elected, Myra worked at Moyne Shire Council. Working closely with Councillors provided her with a deep understanding of Council operations and the Local Government sector.

Myra loves spending time along Moyne’s stunning coastline, particularly at Killarney Beach, Yambuk Beach and East Beach.
