Open space team members pruning roses in Caramut

Works update

Open space

  • Roses throughout the Shire have had their annual winter prune - Mortlake, Macarthur, Caramut, Koroit and Port Fairy
  • Targeted broad leaf spraying underway in higher profile turf areas 
  • Street tree planting to commence next week in Mortlake
  • Significant roadside vegetation signage installation planning underway along Caramut-Chatsworth Road, Woorndoo-Hexham Road, Woorndoo-Chatsworth Road, Woorndoo-Streatham Road, Bolac Plains Road, Woorndoo-Dundonnell Road and Woolsthorpe-Hexham Road

Construction 

(all works actioned weather permitting)

  • Darlington-Terang Road remaining 200m sealed
  • Intersection of Hopkins Falls Road and O’Sullivans Road final seal complete
  • Six graders currently out on maintenance rounds across our six areas (northwest, north central, northeast, southwest, south central, and southeast) and two grader teams handling service requests

Maintenance

  • Cleaners continue to complete duties as part of day-to-day operations such as public toilets and BBQ facilities
  • Jet patcher and Flocon road repair teams are working through service requests

Resealing

2026/2027 resealing programme schedule currently being finalised.

Emergency

  • With the first case of H5N1 bird flu detected in Victoria the public is being urged to report any sick or dead birds (or other animals showing signs of bird flu - land or sea) to the 24hr Emergency Animal Disease hotline 1800 675 888
  • The risk to human health remains low and there has been no detection in poultry or the wider agricultural industry
