Community Carbon Offset Program

trees planting environment

This program encourages the community to plant enough trees each year to fully compensate the carbon dioxide (or greenhouse gas equivalent) emissions from Council’s fleet vehicles.

Following analysis of the fleet listing as of 2 July 2018, Council now has 74 fleet vehicles emitting approximately 756 tonnes of CO2. As a result, Council now needs to install a minimum of 3781 trees/year (and successfully live for at least 30 years) if it is to reach its target of 100% emissions offset.

There are two grant categories available:

  1. Public Land: funding for community groups of up to $1,500 towards the cost of a revegetation project on public land within Moyne Shire.
  2. Private Land: funding for individuals/businesses of between $1,500-$5,000 towards the cost of a revegetation project on private freehold land within Moyne Shire.

Applications need to be completed by  29 April 2022
