Moyne Shire stretches the lands of Gunditjmara and Eastern Maar people, located in South-West Victoria. Situated on the coast it includes Port Fairy and tourism destinations along the Great Ocean Road. Other towns such as Koroit and Mortlake are inland, which support agriculture and manufacturing. Moyne surrounds the city of Warrnambool, which provides jobs and services, as well as South West TAFE and Deakin University.

Moyne is about three hours drive from Melbourne and two hours from Geelong. It includes the key township of Port Fairy, as well as the service centres of Koroit, Mortlake and Macarthur.
