Moyne Shire Council have installed three parklets in Port Fairy this week, activating more outdoor spaces over summer and providing additional seating options to the town.

The parklets, funded through the State Government’s Outdoor Dining Grants, have been installed at Railway Place and Fiddlers Green. Parklets are designed to be temporary, with the ability to be relocated across the Shire.

Mayor Cr Karen Foster said it was an exciting activation for Moyne.

“We’re very excited about the introduction of the parklets– they can temporarily transform urban spaces and extend the amount of time residents and tourists spend in an area, which is great for our local businesses.”

“The new parklets are beautiful timber structures and will help to activate the streetscape and give people a spot to meet, sit and read a book or eat with friends,” Cr Foster said.

“They will be moved multiple times throughout the year to activate community spaces within the Shire, and we will be engaging with the community to seek their feedback on these locations via QR codes displayed on the parklets.”

“So I encourage everyone to make the most of these spaces, especially over the warmer months, and to get out and support our wonderful hospitality businesses by grabbing some take away to enjoy at one of our new parklets.”
