Moyne Shire Australia Day Awards recognise individuals and groups who have made an outstanding contribution to the local community.

Residents and community members are being encouraged to celebrate those who help make a difference to the Moyne Shire, by nominating them for an award.

Moyne Shire Mayor, Cr Daniel Meade said he is proud of the community’s ability to step up to the challenges of the pandemic, with many examples worthy of nominations.

“Over the last 12 months, members of the Moyne community have shown strength, resilience and innovation, and continue to band together and support each other,” said Cr Meade.

“The Australia Day Awards provide an opportunity for us to put the spotlight on those inspiring Australians who have gone above and beyond to make a difference in our community.”

“We all know someone who stands out in the community and inspires others – whether it be through their achievements, their studies, volunteer roles or community involvement.”

Moyne Shire nominations are currently open in the following categories:

  • Citizen of the Year
  • Young Citizen of the Year
  • Community Event of the Year

“I encourage everyone to show their appreciation for those individuals and event organisers who make a significant contribution to our community and deserve to be honoured at these prestigious awards.

“Council is looking forward to acknowledging the inspiring people of Moyne who make us all proud to be an Australian,” Cr Meade said.

Moyne Shire Australia Day Award nominations are now open until 31 October 2021 and can be made on Council’s website at
