Published on 12 October 2020
Moyne Shire residents and community members are encouraged to nominate individuals or groups who have made an outstanding contribution to the local community.
Moyne Shire CEO, Bill Millard acknowledged the current challenges faced by the community and highlighted the importance of the 2021 Australia Day Awards.
“Australia Day provides an opportunity for members of our community to show their appreciation and recognise inspiring Australians who have gone above and beyond to help support our community.”
“This year in particular, we have seen great initiative and comradery in our community, as we face the impacts of COVID-19,” said Mr Millard.
“Council is proud to present the annual awards and recognise the commitment and dedication of those citizens and groups that help our community prosper.”
Moyne Shire nominations are currently open in the following categories:
• Citizen of the Year
• Young Citizen of the Year
• Community Event of the Year
“If there’s a group or person that deserves to be nominated, whether it’s through local sport, arts, environment, education, health, fundraising, charitable and voluntary services, business, social inclusion, or any other area that contributes to the growth and wellbeing of the community, we encourage you to visit Council’s website and nominate them,” said Mr Millard.
“It’s a great honour to be nominated for an Australia Day Award and Council is looking forward to celebrating the integral contribution of these people to our Shire.”
Australia Day Award nominations close on 9 November 2020.
