Griffiths Island, Port Fairy has reopened following weeks of work to clean up and repair storm damage, as well as scheduled improvements to the southern causeway.
Moyne Shire Mayor, Cr Daniel Meade, said that he is pleased to see the island open ahead of the anticipated delays.
“It’s been great to see the community out enjoying the island again already,” Cr Meade said.
“Despite the inclement weather, Council’s team have worked hard to ensure access to the island could be reopened safely and as early as possible.”
“Further minor works to complete the scheduled upgrades to the southern causeway will take place at a later date when weather conditions improve.”
