Moyne Shire Council is opening up its Community Grants program to festival and event organisers, welcoming applications for funding of up to $10,000 per event.

Moyne Shire Mayor, Cr Daniel Meade said that he is looking forward to seeing applications from a range of local event organisers planning to return to this year’s calendar.

“Festivals and events make a huge contribution to our local community, not only through the economic and social benefits they provide, but also the long-term flow on effects that an event brings to our region,” said Cr Meade.

“After a challenging year where many events have been cancelled or significantly impacted by the pandemic, this year’s funding program aims to help bring back our region’s vibrant calendar of events, and help the community come together safely.”

Grants of up to $10,000 are available to eligible applicants who are able to demonstrate a significant social, cultural, economic or environmental benefit to the community.

“These grants will assist festival and event organisers with expenses such as equipment and infrastructure, planning and development, environmental sustainability, promotions, marketing strategies, and COVID recovery initiatives,” said Cr Meade.

“This year, we’re urging organisers of both new and existing events to contact Council officers and discuss ways this funding opportunity could help support your event to recover from the pandemic and bring your projects to life.”

There are two different funding streams as part of Council’s Community Grants program –

Festival and Events funding – grants of up to $10,000 per event. Applications open from 3 April until 10 May 2021.

Community Assistance Funding – up to $20,000 to eligible groups who deliver services that benefit the community. Applications close 30 April 2021.

Applications open this weekend for Festival and Events funding, and those interested in either funding streams are encouraged to contact Council officers or arrange an appointment.

“Council recognises the importance of building the capacity of event organisers and the hard-working volunteers, to deliver activities that encourage community engagement, stimulate economic development and help facilitate initiatives that further enhance our great shire of Moyne,” Cr Meade said.
