Audio recording of Council meetings
All Council Meetings are audio recorded, with the exception of matters identified as confidential items in the agenda. This includes public participation sections of the meeting.
Audio recordings of meetings will be held by the council and made available to members of the public upon written request(PDF, 25KB) to the council, and will be also be uploaded to Council’s website here.
Recordings will be kept for a period of seven years. By participating in open council meetings, individuals consent to the use and disclosure of the information that they share at the meeting (including any personal/sensitive information), for the purposes of Council carrying out its functions. Individuals also consent to the disclosure of that information to any person(s) who applies/apply to the council and is granted access to the audio recording of the meeting.
Personal information and/or sensitive information may be collected about persons during the course of council meetings, particularly where they are participating in the public participation section of the meeting.
If personal information/sensitive information is disclosed during the course of the meeting, either by the person directly or by a third party, this information will form part of the audio recordings which will be able to be accessed by members of the public on written request.
By signing the consent form, persons consent to the use and disclosure of any personal information/sensitive information that is shared share during the course of the meeting for the purposes of the council carrying out its functions. They also consent to the disclosure of that information to any person(s) who applies/apply for access to the audio record of the meeting.
