A rural service centre located in the north-western part of the Shire, Macarthur is situated just to the east of Mt Eccles National Park. The town enjoys good access to other major centres and has a number of historic buildings. Mt Eccles National Park features a number of famous extinct volcanoes, lava canals, gorgeous bushland and a self-guided crater-rim walk. Macarthur is the perfect place to camp, swim, picnic, bushwalk and even try some koala spotting.
