| Information posted 2 November 2009 | | Panmure’s knitting and crochet project The Hole Big Yarn will be reinstalled in Port Fairy for an encore performance this weekend.
Moyne/Glenelg Regional Arts Development Officer Jo Grant said the encore was due to popular demand after more than 100 people viewed the original installation in Panmure in May.
Ms Grant said the installation would be smaller than the original at the Panmure swimming hole but would be just as impressive.
“We had such a fantastic response to the original installation the participants really wanted to show more people,” she said.
“This will give more people a chance to see the amazing work of around 60 Panmure and district residents who made items for the installation. Pieces included lava flows, bird nests, spider webs and floating objects such as a platypus that were incorporated into the landscape on and around the swimming hole.”
A creative project of the Panmure community and Ms Grant, The Hole Big Yarn was in the style of knitting and crochet projects happening all over the world that are sometimes called “yarn bombing”.
The project aimed to connect a small town in Moyne Shire with wider networks and bring something to the community that was fun and different, and that would expand their skills and experiences.
The Hole Big Yarn will be reinstalled at Battery Hill, Port Fairy, on Sunday 8 November from 11am to 4pm. Park at Battery Hill and walk to the track next to the canons towards the river. | |
