| Curdies River Estuary Management Plan Project | | A project to develop a comprehensive Curdies River Estuary Management Plan was conducted during 2007-2008. Moyne Shire Council managed this project.
Like other estuaries along the south west coast of Victoria, the Curdies River estuary is considered to be an important estuarine environment which has a range of complex planning and management issues that require a long-term approach.
The key issues considered while developing a Management Plan included :-
• Opening of the river mouth; • Water quality; • Planning and development; • Tourism and visitor impacts; • Protection of remnant vegetation; • Revegetation; • Pest Plant and Animal management; • Protection of significant flora and fauna; • Aboriginal & European Cultural Site protection; and • Sustainable land use management practices.
The draft of the estuary management plan was released for a period of public comments, which closed on Friday 15th February 2008.
The Curdies River Estuary Management Plan was finalised in October 2008.
