Printer Friendly | HOME>Business>Port of Port Fairy | The historic Port of Port Fairy is a working port used by commercial fishing enterprises and recreational boaters and anglers. Situated on the Moyne River in Port Fairy, the Port has berths that can be rented on a casual or more permanent basis.
Some of the commercial operations that use the Port include abalone, cray, shark and squid fishing operations, as well as charter boat operators. Recreational users include yachts, recreational anglers and leisure craft, and the picturesque Port and wharf area is popular with locals and visitors alike.
The Port boasts beautiful bluestone training walls that run along the river's edge out to sea.
The Port of Port Fairy is operated and managed by Moyne Shire Council, which employs a full-time manager and two other staff to oversee operations. |

| Port of Port Fairy Committee of Management | | Vision statement: to have a vibrant, fully utilised working port with first-class facilities whilst retaining its tradition and heritage.
The Port of Port Fairy Committee of Management has operated since 1995, when Moyne Shire Council took over the management of the Port. The committee is made up of two Moyne Shire Councillors, the Council's Corporate Business Manager, and five industry representatives. The committee meets every two months with the purpose of controlling and managing the operation and development of the Port.
Typical items discussed at board meetings include: Staffing arrangements; Capital works budget; Port works report; Dredge upgrade; Slipway waste disposal system; Port management agreement; Finance report.
The committee meets at the Port Fairy Yacht Club, Griffiths Street, Port Fairy, with all meetings starting at 4.30pm. The 2009/10 meeting schedule is as follows: Friday 17th July 2009 Friday 18th September 2009 Friday 20th November 2009 Friday 19th March 2010 Friday 21st May 2010 Top

| Port Talk - the Port of Port Fairy newsletter | | Port Talk is the official newsletter of the historic Port of Port Fairy. Port Talk is distributed to commercial operators, berth holders and other interested people through the community. June 2007 saw a new-look Port Talk hit the community. Previously a bi-annual publication, Port Talk was revamped and will now be distributed each month.
The publication is designed to be your one-stop-shop for all information on the historic Port of Port Fairy, and is a vehicle to promote and highlight this special attraction.
