Moyne Shire is one of Victoria's most productive and enterprising agricultural regions. Dairy, beef cattle, sheep, and vegetable production are thriving major industries. Manufacturing is mainly in the processing of primary products and resources, and includes the dairy products factories of Murray Goulburn Cooperative in Koroit and Warrnambool Cheese and Butter at Allansford, BAM Stone, GlaxoSmithKline (pharmaceuticals), Sou'west Seafoods in Port Fairy, and Midfield Meats in Mortlake. The tourism and domestic holiday sectors of the economy also continue to grow, with spectacular coastal scenery, unique hinterland attractions, and renowned festivals drawing large visitor numbers to the region.
Community services such as the Moyne Health Services facility at the Port Fairy hospital, local schools and the Council are important contributors to the economy. |
