Printer Friendly | HOME>Fire prevention | The possibility of fire, particularly wild fire, is recognised as a major risk threatening life and property within the Moyne Shire.
Each year Council requires property owners to take the necessary steps to minimise any potential fire hazards on their property. This can be achieved by, but not limited to, the slashing or mowing of grass, removal of flammable material and judicious grazing of livestock. | | |

| The most appropriate time to conduct fire prevention works is before the onset of the fire danger period. Property owners who do not remove hazards on their land, will be served with a fire prevention notice by Council’s fire prevention officers. These notices specify a time period in which the property owner must remove the fire hazard or face a $200.00 fine.
If property owners do not comply with the fire prevention direction, Council’s contractors will be engaged to clear the hazard at the property owner’s expense.
Moyne Shire Council's Municipal Fire Prevention Plan is currently being updated. The link below provides a version of Council's Plan which due to current updates, is not in its entirety.
