Community Carbon Offset Program

trees planting environment

This program encourages the community to plant enough trees each year to fully compensate the carbon dioxide (or greenhouse gas equivalent) emissions from Council’s fleet vehicles.

Analysis performed on data from 67 fleet vehicles in 2014/15 determined that approximately 645 tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent gas are emitted each year. In order to achieve 100% offset, Council requires a minimum of 3227 trees to be planted (and successfully live for at least 30 years).
