Community Carbon Offset Program

trees planting environment

This program encourages the community to plant enough trees each year to fully compensate the carbon dioxide (or greenhouse gas equivalent) emissions from Council’s fleet vehicles. Analysis performed on data from 63 fleet vehicles in 2009/10 determined that approximately 507 tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent gas is emitted each year. In order to achieve a 100% offset, Council requires a minimum of 3044 trees to be planted.
