Moyne Shire’s Australia Day Award Winners Announced

Hawkesdale will host Moyne Shire’s official Australia Day ceremony this year.
The event will feature the awarding of Moyne Shire’s Australia Day Awards.
This year’s recipients are:
Citizen of Year – Frank and Anne-Maree Huglin
Their impact on the town of Hawkesdale, together and individually, has been profound. Barely any aspect of community life in Hawkesdale has been left unaltered by their enthusiasm and generosity.
Community Event of the Year – 2018 Purnim 150-ish Years Celebration
This event recognised the founding moment of the town’s post office in 1868 with the awarding celebrating the huge effort that went into making the celebration happen.
There will also be an address from Australia Day ambassador Virginia Moloney. Ms Moloney is a renowned athlete, representing Australia in the marathon at the 2018 Commonwealth Games on the Gold Coast.
The day will also feature a citizenship ceremony. Mark Gregory and Robert Seares will officially receive their Australian citizenship.
The celebrations will begin at 8am with a free community breakfast followed by the official proceedings starting at 9.30am.
