Port Fairy Aerial Overview

Submissions are invited on a proposed amendment to the Moyne Planning Scheme, which would implement the strategic framework outlined in the Port Fairy Coastal and Structure Plan 2018.

Moyne Shire Director, Economic Development and Planning, Brett Davis, said the amendment applies to all land within Port Fairy.

“The amendment seeks to implement the recommendations of the Port Fairy Coastal and Structure Plan, which was adopted by Council in 2018,” Mr Davis said.

“These recommendations include defining a settlement boundary around Port Fairy that allows for residential, commercial and industrial growth, without compromising the town’s historic, village characteristics.

“The Amendment would also rezone a number of areas to allow for suitable development, including a residential growth area between the Princes Highway and Hamilton-Port Fairy Road.

“The Port Fairy Coastal and Structure Plan was a pilot project conducted in conjunction with the State Government. It considers coastal hazards such as flooding and erosion and introduces Overlays to manage future risks in areas that may be affected.

“As this Amendment affects all properties in Port Fairy, the community are encouraged to view the documents, either on Council’s website or on the Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning website.”
