Environmental Sustainability Awards – Call for Nominations
Published on 20 February 2018
Council is looking for nominations for its 2018 Environmental Sustainability Awards.
The Shire is fortunate to have a number of passionate and dedicated organisations, community groups and individuals that contribute countless hours of their time towards making the municipality more environmentally sustainable.
Since 2016 the awards have recognised excellence by environmental sustainability champions.
There are two categories one for short-term contributions (commenced and completed within the last 2 years) and a long-term award (contribution over a number of years).
Nominations are open to any individual or group, providing they can adequately demonstrate a contribution to environmental sustainability has occurred in some meaningful way within the Moyne Shire
Previous winners include St. Patricks Primary School, Koroit, who won the short-term award in 2016 and St. Patricks Primary School, 2017. In 2016 The Friends of Pallisters Reserve, won the long-term section, with the Port Fairy to Warrnambool Rail Trail Committee of Management winning in 2017.
Nominations are assessed on demonstrated, or the high likelihood of improvements to the existing natural, built or social environment.
These include areas such as water quality and water conservation; greenhouse gas emissions; waste management practices; biodiversity management; and environmental education and awareness.
Nomination forms are available here.
Nominations close on 8 March 2018 with award winners to be announced on World Environment Day, 5 June 2018.
