Family Support Officer

  • Tuesdays & Thursdays, 9:00am – 3:30pm 
  • This position will be municipal wide with work to be undertaken at a range of locations.

    We are currently seeking a suitable applicant to work as part of the Enhanced Maternal and Child Health Team under the guidance of the Early Years Health Coordinator utilising the frameworks and guidelines underpinning service delivery. 

    The successful applicant for this position will be responsible for actively engaging and working with children and their families providing case management, intensive support, parenting education and programs based on current and relevant theories and practices. 

To be successful in this role you will need:

Qualifications

  • Essential – Relevant tertiary qualification in Early Childhood /Kindergarten/Social Work or Welfare.
  • Essential – Current Employee level Working With Children’s Check
  • Essential – Current Victorian Driver’s Licence

Experience

  • Desirable - Experience working with vulnerable young children and families will be an advantage

KSC 1

Good public relations skills, to maintain a strong customer focus and positive relationships between council and service-users.

KSC 2

Proven ability to work as an effective team member and promote a multidisciplinary approach in the work place.

KSC 3

Demonstrated understanding of the Child Information Sharing Scheme and Family Violence Information Sharing Scheme.

KSC 4

A clear and thorough knowledge of current practice on child health and development theory, family functioning and the factors that contribute to child and family vulnerability related to the health, development and wellbeing of young children.
