Some communities within our shire are subject to flooding, some such as Port Fairy are more prone than others. Rural land surrounding townships is also at risk. Flood damage to roads and bridges can result in isolation of communities, and restrict the ability of emergency and recovery services to access communities at risk. Damage to other essential services such as water and sewer mains, and underground electricity and telecommunications infrastructure can also inhibit response and recovery during a flood.
The SES website contains current warnings as well as a range of information on what to do 'Before, During and After' Storm and Flood emergencies.
